Tsippi Gross, business coach – learning how to challenge our limiting beliefs

Tsippi Gross is a life and business coach, serial entrepreneur, and podcast host. Tsippis’s specialty is helping people achieve their goals in a way that the ripple effect impacts long-lasting success in all other areas of their life as well.

Growing up I always wanted to do something that’s helping people, but I didn’t know what. At first, I thought of law because I love speaking and the intellectual aspect. I also liked therapy, but I didn’t like that you can go to therapy for years and years and not necessarily make so much progress, that school of thought bothered me. Later in my teenage years and early adulthood, someone introduced me to coaching.

When I heard about coaching it really felt right for me, so I got started with it. At that point, I was living in Israel, and I started taking courses, reading books, and having mentors. It’s a continuous process, I still take courses, read books, and have mentors. It’s a process of continually growing and learning and applying that knowledge to other people.

I really enjoyed it. The fact that the client knows their own truths and their own answers and it’s the coach’s job to bring their own answers out of themselves and recognize their own greatness.

From a very young age, I was very good at understanding people. Also, the way I was raised, we always had people in our house. When you are around a lot of people you get to know a lot of people’s issues and my siblings, and I were always talking to people about what was going on for them and we were drawn to helping people in that way. I also always enjoyed reading personal growth books and understanding how the brain works and the heart and mind connection. So, I really enjoyed it.

When you’re in a coaching relationship, it’s the coach’s job to pull out your own inner ideas, goodness, and potential. There’s a difference between coaching and consulting. I do both.

When it’s business I will sometimes say, let’s try this strategy or why don’t you try this strategy. But when it’s personal coaching, or even growing the roots of your own business that has to come from inside of you. Sometimes we’ll go through 12 different strategies and then well go back to the first one they thought of because we just haven’t fleshed it out yet. There’s no one size fits all, what works for one person doesn’t necessarily work for someone else.

Common barriers that come up for clients that prevent them from accessing their own ideas and greatness from within is mostly not believing in themselves.

I once listened to an interview with multi-billionaires and even they were saying that their biggest hurdle was imposter syndrome. I see that across the board, people just don’t feel like they are good enough or enough to have the following or influence to get out there.

I think we are all learning on the job so we have a tendency to want to be really good at what we’re doing, but we think, hey I am still learning so how could I go out and teach other people? There are also people who are very good at what they do, but they think they don’t have the personality to go out there. They are introverts. They see that as an imperfection in themselves and no one wants to see themselves as imperfect. I am a major introvert, after I do a podcast or speak in public, I need to recharge.

I attended Tsippi’s mastermind where she spoke about the law of attraction and living in alignment with yourself. Tsippi expounded on this idea.

To me, it means doing what you are supposed to be doing in this world. I have always wanted to know what my purpose is in this world. If I am doing something that is not in alignment with myself, I don’t feel like I am thriving. I see this with clients as well. If someone’s business is not working out and they tried a ton of different things, when I first started, I would try different strategies with them. Now, we take a break and get deep. Let’s figure out who you are and what you want to do with your life. If you’re doing something that’s not who you are then no matter what strategy you try it won’t necessarily work. First, you have to be who you are and then the strategy is a detail.

How does one know when they are or are not living within alignment?

Let’s say you have a job that you don’t like. Ask yourself, are you in alignment with yourself the rest of the time? Do you feel like you’re using your talent and skills? Do you even know what they are? Do you feel like you’re taking care of yourself and nurturing the people around you?

If you are excited about your life, enjoying your friends, and feel like you’re going in a certain direction, some people are able to separate their job and their life. However, some of us can’t. We have a desire to have a life that is completely in alignment with our purpose. Not everyone has to live their purpose every minute of their lives, but some of us do.

If you had a lot of other things going in the right direction and this job was still weighing you down and draining you. This is something you have to think about what it means for you. What your next steps should be. Some people have a thriving business in areas that they are not passionate about, but they enjoy the business aspect, they find it exciting and intriguing.

A lot of this is about going inside and people don’t do that very often.

If someone did this work and came to the conclusion that they want to quit their job, but they can’t, either because they need the money or the outlet, what to do about it depends on the why.

If they can’t quit because they need the money, it wouldn’t be responsible to quit. I would help them find other things in their life that they really love and enjoy and start vibrating on a different energy level so other opportunities open up for them. When you are stuck in a situation, you get a lot of stuck results. I would help that person find different things to elevate their energy level in general. They can also take on more of what they like to do as they transition from quitting their job that they don’t like.

If the reason is that you are scared or holding onto something, that’s something they would have to explore. I would help guide them to make their own decision and really explore themselves.

Next we discussed energy and what it means that if you put out happiness in the world you get back happiness.

Energetically speaking, we attract on the level of energy that we are on. For example, someone who really wants abundance but is focusing on the negative and walking around moping and complaining doesn’t match that abundance of energy. When I think of abundance, I think of flowing, easy, light, happy, and free.

What I do with clients is help them get to a place of knowing who they are when they have that abundance. It’s like matching up the puzzle pieces. I ask the clients who are you when you are the person you want to become? That’s the most important thing to learn because that’s how you get there. We get addicted to our patterns and beliefs so we just continue to get what we are currently getting and have. We have to change those patterns and beliefs so that we can change what we get.

When someone is stuck and is having a hard time changing their mindset, we have to rewire their brain. We do that by imagining what I am when I am what I want to be.

For example, if I want to be a millionaire, imagine how I will be when I am a millionaire. Tapping into the emotional part is the most important part of rewiring the brain. Because your brain doesn’t know the difference between real and fake emotions, or if what you are imagining is really happening or not.

If you feel like the most successful person in the world, your brain thinks you are the most successful person in the world and it will allow you to go out there and create situations where you are the most successful person in the world. It takes work and time to get to that mindset.

I am very left-brain. I used to not be into fluff, yoga and meditation, and things like that. The right side of the brain. It always really bothered me. So, a few years ago I decided to go all in to it and really try it out. It really changed me and everything in my life. When you are using the left side of your brain the whole time, that’s a lot of pressure on you because you are letting everything be on your shoulders all the time. You have to find solutions, you have to be successful, and you have to work things out. Whereas when you jump into this world of the right side of the brain, you’re able to rely on different energies. It’s a big jump, but it’s very helpful.

(Gila) Rebbetzin Yemima Mizrachi once said that we shouldn’t feel bad about asking Hashem for more of what we have-kids, money… because it’s really the ultimate compliment. It means we know that only Hashem can give it to us.

With everything we do have, it’s important to know what our priorities are.

(Gila) One year I wanted to go on a family vacation but I thought it was too materialistic. So, I asked a Rav what he thinks. He said why is that bad? It’s beautiful! It really opened my eyes to the fact that you can use money for vacations, family time should be a priority. I am very stingy with my money, and it always comes down to a fear of not having enough. When I learned that I could make a decision on how to use my money towards something that’s important and meaningful to me, if I have that money, that’s what it’s for!

I think that recognizing that is so important. Like we said before, what you put out you get back. A person who is always scared about not having enough, won’t have enough. Because that’s what they focused on. When I see people make that mindset switch, besides that it decreases your stress levels and increases your quality of life, you do also get those results. It’s a journey and a process.

We can rewrite our stories if we choose to. We can all change our beliefs. I love talking to people about their beliefs system because all of the sudden they’re like I have been holding onto that for 28 years for no reason, just because my dad used to say that.

(Gila) It’s also a common theme in diet culture. You don’t eat after 6, that’s what my mother said all the time. Do you like that belief system? Does it serve you? When it comes down to it, that belief system can really affect us, and we don’t even realize it. I think that’s why a lot of people are drawn to the coaching experience. With therapy, we can stay stuck with an emotion because were addicted to that emotion or pain.

I am not against therapy; I am against talking therapy. I recommend people to therapy all the time if we hit some sort of belief system or habit. You can’t just talk it through. And sometimes it’s not therapy that’s needed, sometimes you just need a break and recharge.

As we are getting closer to the end of days, science is changing. We always thought that we were born with certain things we have to shlep it around. But now we know that’s not true. No one today should be suffering. There are so many techniques nowadays to unlearn belief systems. It’s so exciting. I can’t read the science books fast enough! It’s fascinating and we are so fortunate. In the past, people were just making it through their life whereas now people want to live their lives with a purpose and make a difference.

If you don’t like your life, change it! Your life is you.

Whatever is happening inside is happening outside, so if you don’t like what’s happening on the outside, you don’t have to change the outside, you have to change yourself. Your energy, how you are operating, how you’re going through your day. Start with something easy like a gratitude journal, it rewires your brain and releases oxytocin to bring better things into your life. When you start being more positive you start having more positivity in your life. No one has to live the life they are living if they don’t like it!
